hepatitis b virus genotype g infection in a turkish patient undergoing hemodialysis therapy

چکیده
conclusions the present clinical study suggests that the transmission of an hbv genotype other than genotype d, namely hbv genotype g, is possible in turkey. epidemiological and clinical information on genotype g infection is currently limited, and this is most likely due to its low prevalence throughout the world. therefore, it may be important to determine the epidemiologic and molecular characteristics of the hbv genotype g as it relates to chronic hepatitis, to enable better understanding of its circulation and progression around the world. case report according to hbv genotyping using phylogenetic analysis and an inno-lipa assay, the patient was infected with genotype g and g+a, respectively. background genotype g is the least common of all the hepatitis b virus (hbv) genotypes. the existence of the genotype g strain of hbv was first noted in 2000 and little information is available on its global geographical distribution. previous studies have demonstrated the dominance of genotype d in patients with hbv infections in turkey. objectives to report for the first time in turkey, the case of a 61 year old male patient who developed the hbv genotype g infection.

Hepatitis B Virus Genotype G Infection in a Turkish Patient Undergoing Hemodialysis Therapy
OBJECTIVES To report for the first time in Turkey, the...
متن کاملHEPATITIS B VIRUS INFECTION IN AN ANTI-HBC NEGATIVE PATIENT: A CASE REPORT
ABSTRACT One of the best reliable markers of hepatitis B virus infection is antibodies to the core antigen (Anti-HBc). A first-time blood donor with HBsAg positivity was identified as an HBV carrier that was anti-HBc negative. The patient was followed for 24 months in order to investigate the evolution of his HBV serological profiles and HBVDNA (PCR). In the follow-up for 24 months, HBsAg, HBe...
متن کاملOccult Hepatitis B Virus Infection in Chronic Hemodialysis Patients in Panje-Azar Hospital, Gorgan
Abstract Background and objectives: Hepatitis B virus infection is a major health problem in worldwide. The prevalence of Occult and chronic HBV in hemodialysis patients is higher than standard in developing countries. People with occult HBV are negative for HBV surface antigen (HBsAg) but positive for HBV-DNA. We aimed to evaluate occult hepatitis B infection in patients under hemodialysis in ...
متن کاملThe Absence of Hepatitis C Virus Infection Among Patients with Hepatitis B virus in Mashhad, Iran
Background and Aims: Many studies have provided evidence for the role of hepatitis B and C viruses in the development of liver cancer. Although the routine treatment is available for both conditions, no definite guideline is available to treat patients dually infected with HBV and HCV. This study was performed to determine the frequency of HBV/HCV-coinfection in Mashhad, North-East of Iran. Mat...
متن کاملHuman immunodeficiency virus and hepatitis B genotype G/A2 recombinant co-infection: a case study
BACKGROUND Hepatitis B virus (HBV) genotypes have distinct geographical distributions and are associated with different clinical courses. HBV genotype G (HBV/G) is extremely rare among Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected populations in Japan. Genetic analysis and clinical course of recombinant forms with HBV/G infection are seldom reported in the literature. CASE PRESENTATION A 36-yea...
متن کاملGenotype/subgenotype distribution of hepatitis B virus among hemodialysis patients with chronical hepatitis B.
INTRODUCTION Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in hemodialysis (HD) patients is a major concern, but limited information exists on the HBV genotyping in patients on maintenance HD in Turkey. AIM To investigate the genotype and subgenotype distribution of HBV in Turkish HD patients with chronic hepatitis B. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 248 HBsAg positive patients undergoing long-term HD f...
